The beautiful Italian Villa we stayed in in Nairobi, Kenya
Welcome to Gelato!'s blog and musing board!
First of all, thank you to all of you who have been following our events, happenings, art exhibitions, emails and also those of our friends. We deeply appreciate the support. Gelato! began as a way to connect with like minded people who enjoy life, art and food, of course, and we continue to follow that course. We are shifting what we do from ad hoc events, to a more structured schedule of shows and exhibits. In addition to that, we are finally initiating the blog in the way we've envisioned it, as a resource of good information on the things that matter to artists and the things that make living as an artist in todays society as comfortable and profitable as possible.
So we will start now, albeit slowly, to introduce a more regularly updated blog series about enhancing your life as an artists living in NY. Or anywhere for that matter. It will be called the Art of a Great Life. I'm finally taking many of my friends advice and putting down on paper (virtual that is) some of the wisdom's from conversations we've had concerning living well and enjoying life. The articles will be written by myself, Garon, and every so often a guest writer. A great life doesn't exactly correlate to how much money you make , what circles you roll in, or where you live, although those things can certainly have an initial and profound impact on your life.
There are some things that are much more important, and affect you everyday. Once these things are identified, you can start to examine them to see their influence and pervasiveness in your life, and if need be, begin to alter them in beneficial way.
As I am just beginning to commence on this writing adventure, I haven't really a formal structure to follow, perhaps one will evolve in time. So, the question at present is: what exactly are some of these things that impact our lives and our quality of living?
For now, we can begin with these:
Health, Peace of MInd, Self Esteem, Courage, Discipline, and Connecting to Your Soul/Spirit.
These are the forms in their positive aspects. In their negative aspects we find :
Disease, Mental Instability, Low Self Esteem, Cowardice, Unruliness and Irresponsibility and a Restless and Wandering Soul unable to feel or appreciate the Life Around it.
Identifying and dealing with these aspects are something we all must do from time to time, and it greatly increases our effectiveness in life when we do.
I will start to post this week, beginning with Health, which as my Grandfather used to famously say " Take care of you health, without your health grandson, you don't have anything at all!"
Thanks for reading and Enjoy Life Now, this is not a dress rehearsal!
